Description

Asparagus root is one of my TOP favorite herbs in the entire world. It is a POWERFUL stress reliever, mood uplifter and helps us to awaken our hearts to more love and compassion and a more favorable outlook in life. It helps us cope with the modern world and emotional upset. This is described as "shen stabalizing" in traditional Chinese medicine. It helps us to let go of what is not good for us anymore (such as addictions and negative behaviors), and more effortlessly partake in what is good for us, as most shen herbs help with. Priceless. People taking shen herbs, such as our Serenity formula, duanwood reishi, albizzia flower (helps a broken heart), zizyphus seed, polygala and poria will notice themselves happier in life in a happier, more peaceful disposition, able to cope with what life throws at them. Highly recommend trying this herb for this reason alone, however it also is very famous for other reasons!

Used As a Natural Antidepressant and mood uplifter:

Taken a bit before bedtime, one can obtain a very good sleep with wonderful peaceful thoughts just before falling asleep. It is very nice.

Throughout life, we all have tough experiences. When the lung energy is strong, we can pass through these experiences and then let them go. Wild Asparagus is unsurpassed by any other herb in this ability to let go of the bad things of life, emotional waste, and in allowing us to expand our view of life with each passing day.

Tian Men Dong as it is also called in Chinese, is truly a natural anti depressant. Another top of the top, powerful antidepressant, mood uplifter and "shen" tonic is Rhodiola. Goji berry is known as the happy fruit and helps also support overall happiness, wellbeing and a cheerful mood.

Used As A Lung and "Wisdom" Tonic:

Asparagus Root is a fantastic tonic herb that improves the function of the lungs and the whole respiratory system. It also purifies the skin and prolonged use makes the skin smooth, supple and soft, excellent for people who suffer with dry skin conditions.

The Chinese say that "wisdom comes from the lungs." It becomes clear to see why they believe that wild Asparagus root aids in the development of wisdom.

Throughout life our tough experiences become valuable lessons. The Lung function, as it affects our psyche, allows a person to extract the truth and wisdom out of life's experiences. It also allows us to let go of that which is useless and of no lasting value.  From this we can gain lasting wisdom!

As a major lung tonic as well as a major kidney tonic it will make your skin beautiful as the lungs along with good kidney function will feed the moisture to your skin in perfect balance. For the lungs this powerful tonic herb combines very well with Schizandra and Siberian Ginseng.

Finally, asparagus root also helps to relieve pain from swelling and rheumatoid conditions as well as helping to combat infections.

Asparagus Root

To open and uplift the heart, clear the lungs and build up depleted energy

Asparagus Root is powerful in three main ways. Firstly, it clears and opens up the lungs. Asparagus root can help move phlegm out of the lungs and make the alveoli more efficient so you take in more oxygen with each breath. If you have a cold or a respiratory ailment, asparagus root can assist with that, though obviously its better if you use it as a preventative measure so as not to get ill in the first place!

Because it helps with the lungs, with regular use it will help with the voice, making it clearer and more powerful. Regular use will also help your skin look and feel good, because the health of the skin is connected closely with the function of the lungs.

Secondly, asparagus root is a Shen tonic. This means it helps you tune into and move into alignment with your spirit. On a practical level this will show up as feeling better about life, feeling uplifted. Its often referred to as the flying herb because traditionally when Taoists took it, they would dream of flying. Psychologists will tell you this is a sign of feeling free, of feeling liberated.

Asparagus root is specifically a Shen awakening herb or Shen opening herb, which is the rarer type of Shen herb. It works to open the heart, make you feel good about life, make you feel up. It helps you to connect with the Spirit as the Taoists call it, and also to connect with the world around you.

Thirdly, it has a kidney yin tonifying effect. It helps you to replenish the bodys sexual fluids and (with long term use) restore sexual function. It has general kidney tonifying benefits such as improving your endurance, your ability to heal and recover, wound healing, and helping you not to feel stressed about things.

In case you are wondering if this is the root of the same kind of asparagus you buy at the supermarket, the answer is yes, almost. This herb is a slightly different genus of asparagus; its basically a wilder, more potent version of the asparagus you put on your plate.

Personally I aim to have asparagus root every day because its so beneficial in general terms, but its especially worthwhile if you have any of the issues mentioned. Take it if you feel down and closed off to the world, if you have respiratory issues, or if youre feeling depleted and needing to build your reserves of energy up. Asparagus root is good in all of those cases.

What are herbal extracts?
Herbal extracts are an excellent way of getting the nutrition and goodness from a herb, without the trouble of sometimes elaborate preparation. They are also a way of getting the goodness in as concentrated a form as possible.

How are herbal extracts made?
The raw herbs are prepared by hot water extraction, the water is then evaporated off until all that is left is the essential oils and active ingredients. These are then bound together in an excipient, small amounts of non-GM corn flour. This is the most pure and unadulterated way to enjoy tonic herbal extracts possible. Purity: this vegan product is free from wheat, gluten, soya, added sugar, salt, test, lactose, preservatives, or any other fillers. Not tested on animals.

Directions:
These tonic herbs are food grade and safe to use as you would culinary herbs. They can be added to any foods or drinks. Suggested uses are either to add 1/2 a teaspoon to a healthy juice or smoothie, or to prepare them as an instant tonic tea, but simply putting 1/2 a teaspoon in a cup or mug, and adding hot water.
